Meth Awareness

In 2004, a constituent in the Rivers Edge subdivision contacted me about the effect that methamphetamine can have, not only on a community, but on the families involved, his family being one of them. It is a truly devastating drug. A meth addict will go to any length to get more to satisfy their appetite even if it means stealing from their own family, friends, and neighbors. Meth addicts have no conscience. Their god is meth and their goal in life is pursuing their next fix. I would like to dedicate this video to that constituent.

Since that time, I have attended dozens of seminars regarding meth to educate myself. Its composition, its use and its effect on innocent lives. I would like to thank the following people for helping make this video possible. I hope it will stand the test of time - that is, until the next designer drug comes along!

- Chief of Police Bob Boone who supported me throughout this effort and former Officer John Francis who unselfishly guided me through several episodes when I thought that this would never come to fruition. Thanks for believing in the project John and for shooting the promotional ad with me that aired on CableOne to promote the meth class!

- Karl Doering, who was the first drug enforcement officer I met with in December 2004

- Ken DuPre, who gave the most inspiring presentation during the meth class held in February 2007

- Fire Inspector Jeff Hill, whose officers take their lives in their hands every time they bust a meth lab

- To Ed and Kim Smith of Edit House Productions: It's one thing to know what you want to capture; it's another to trust someone else to get it right. Thanks Ed for getting it right!

There are CD's available at the Loma Colorado Library for take-out, just like a book.

School Safety

The school transportation safety video was the result of my collaborating with Principal Trent Heffner of the Vista Grande Elementary School in Enchanted Hills. I had been contacted by numerous parents, teachers and the Principal himself, to try and illustrate how dangerous it is for our children when the rules of safety are not obeyed. I hope this video will show the importance of following the rules in order to set a good example -- we lead by example.

Have a safe school year.
