There are many issues currently facing Rio Rancho. The city is in a continuous state of change and growth, which invites a multitude of issues and political interaction as a result. Marilyn is famous for her non-partisan appeal and saying what needs to be said for the good of her constituents and the city as a whole. There have been several unpopular issues that Marilyn had to vote on during her first term in office. And there will be other hot button issues in the future as well as the ones we are experiencing now:

Property taxes and values

Government transparency and accountability

City infrastructure (top-heavy administration, community facilities, outsourcing contracts)

Need for a “spending hawk” to oversee and audit city spending

A friendlier city hall for new and existing businesses

A return to the people of their property rights
